Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Ushinskogo Street in St. Petersburg preserves the recipes of Soviet confectionery craft and makes its desserts using old techniques. Here they bake «Kartoshka» pastries, «Ptiche moloko» cake, «Leningradskiy» and «Teatralnyy» cakes, «Bushe» buns, and almond cookies — the very treats many St. Petersburg residents remember the taste of from childhood. Only natural ingredients are used in the work: fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream. Boiled condensed milk for the fillings is ordered separately from Mordovia, and all products go through strict quality control before entering production. The establishment's history began in 1903 with a bakery-confectionery shop at 44 Nevsky Prospect — it is first mentioned in the "Ves Peterburg" yearbook. Even then, queues for fresh baked goods stretched along the entire avenue. The production survived two world wars and a revolution, and during the Soviet years the confectioners developed recipes that became classics and remain unchanged to this day.
