«Sever-Metropol» at Prospekt Khudozhnikov, 16A, in St. Petersburg keeps the recipes of the city's oldest confectionery production. The establishment's history began back in 1903 with a bakery-confectionery shop on Nevsky Prospekt, 44 — back then, lines for fresh pastries stretched along the entire street. The production survived the revolution and two world wars, and during the Soviet years the confectioners created recipes that became classics for decades to come. Today the same old recipes are still used here: "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, almond cookies, and the legendary "Leningradsky" cake. Only natural ingredients go into them — fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream. Even the boiled condensed milk here isn't just any kind: it's ordered from Mordovia, following strict quality control at every stage. «Sever-Metropol» combines mixed cuisine with confectionery production, preserving a taste familiar to several generations of Petersburgers since childhood.
