Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» at 12 Yesenina Street, Building 1, in Saint Petersburg preserves the recipes of Soviet-era confectionery. Here they make «Kartoshka» and «Leningradskoe» pastries, «Ptichye Moloko» and «Teatralny» cakes, «Bushe» buns, almond cookies, and dozens of other desserts familiar since childhood. Only natural ingredients are used in production: fresh chocolate, condensed milk, cream, and butter. Products undergo strict quality control, and boiled condensed milk is sourced from Mordovia. The history of the production began with a bakery-confectionery shop on Nevsky Prospekt, 44 — first mentioned in the 1903 edition of the "Ves Peterburg" yearbook. Even then, lines for fresh pastries and desserts stretched along the entire Nevsky. The production survived two world wars and a revolution, remaining part of the memory of many generations of Petersburgers. During the Soviet years, confectioners developed recipes that became classics of the city — the «Leningradsky» and «Teatralny» cakes, «Bushe» buns, almond cookies. Today, «Sever-Metropol» makes these desserts using the same recipes as decades ago.
