Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» in the village of Novoselye carries on the tradition of St. Petersburg's oldest confectionery, whose history began with a bakery at 44 Nevsky Prospekt. The establishment is first mentioned in the 1903 edition of the "Ves Peterburg" ("All of Petersburg") yearbook, when people lined up for fresh pastries right on Nevsky Prospekt. The production survived two world wars and a revolution, and during the Soviet years the confectioners developed recipes that became classics for decades to come. Today the same desserts many St. Petersburg residents remember from childhood are made here: "Kartoshka" and "Leningradskoye" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" cake, "Teatralny" cake, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies. The recipes haven't changed in years — only natural ingredients are used: fresh chocolate, natural cream, and butter. The boiled condensed milk for the fillings is ordered separately from Mordovia, and all products go through strict quality control before becoming part of the finished item.
