Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Politekhnicheskaya Street, 31, next to the metro station of the same name, continues the work of St. Petersburg's oldest confectionery production. The establishment's history began back in 1903 with a bakery-confectionery shop at Nevsky Prospect, 44 — it is mentioned in the "Ves Peterburg" (All of Petersburg) yearbook of that time. Even then, queues for fresh pastries stretched along the entire avenue, and the production survived the revolution and two world wars, remaining part of the city's memory. Here, confectionery is made according to recipes developed back in the Soviet years. The menu includes the "Kartoshka" pastry, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, the famous "Leningradsky" cake, "Buche" buns, and almond cookies. All desserts are made from natural ingredients: fresh chocolate, butter, and natural cream. Boiled condensed milk for the confectionery is ordered from Mordovia — the products undergo strict quality control at every stage. The establishment's cuisine combines classic Soviet recipes with elements of a mixed culinary tradition. Each dessert is made the same way as it was decades ago — preserving a taste familiar to several generations of St. Petersburg residents.
