«Sever-Metropol» on Nevsky Prospekt, 6, continues the work of Saint Petersburg's oldest confectionery. The establishment's history began with a bakery-confectionery at Nevsky Prospekt, 44 — it is mentioned as early as the 1903 "Vsyo Peterburg" directory. Even then, people lined up here for fresh baked goods, and the production survived two world wars and a revolution, preserving both its recipes and the city's affection for it. The menu here is original, but respectful of Soviet confectionery traditions. On offer are "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bushe" buns, almond cookies, and other classics familiar to many Petersburgers since childhood. Everything is made according to old recipes, using natural ingredients: fresh chocolate, butter, real cream. Even the boiled condensed milk is ordered specially — brought in from Mordovia to preserve the right taste and quality. The average check here is around 500 ₽, which makes tasting these legendary desserts affordable. Getting here is easy: the metro stations Sennaya Ploshchad, Spasskaya, and Sadovaya are all nearby.
