Silencio

«Silencio» on Solyanka is a tiny bar with five seats at the counter, tucked away in a red-velvet room that looks like it stepped out of a David Lynch film. It houses an impressive collection of absinthes from around the world, served by the book: with water dripping through special bowls and fountains that let the drink's flavor unfold gradually. Absinthe isn't the only thing on offer. The bar makes cocktails on craft mashes — banana, honey, and pear-tarragon — and adds shrubs, liqueurs, and vermouths. A separate story of its own: mixes that faithfully recreate the scents of famous perfumes, such as Dior's Fahrenheit and Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. The bar is easy to find: it's a couple of minutes on foot from Kitay-Gorod metro station to Solyanka, 1/2.
