La Scarpetta

«La Scarpetta» translates from Italian as "little shoe" — the name for a piece of bread used to wipe the last of the sauce off a plate. Founder Giulio Zompi built the name around a simple idea: no ceremony at the table, just the pleasure of eating without worrying about manners. Zompi personally handles the sourcing of Italian products, which aren't easy to find in Moscow these days. The cooking here doesn't cut corners. Carbonara is made by the book: the sauce is built on pecorino romano and parmigiano reggiano, with no cream, topped with real cured guanciale instead of the usual bacon. The average check runs 3,000–6,000 ₽, and this is a case where the price reflects the quality. The restaurant is located at Obolensky Lane, 9, building 1, near Frunzenskaya metro station.
