Bambule

«Bambule» on Solyanka, near Kitay-Gorod metro station, is a two-story wine bar with none of the usual pretension. The interior draws on Berlin venues of the 1970s: a free European spirit runs through everything, from the atmosphere to the way wine is served in beautiful bottles. You can drop in for an aperitif or stay until morning, sit on the staircase or dance — the place lives by its own rules. The menu combines simple and unusual dishes from a mixed cuisine. For an aperitif, people order olives with bread or tomato carpaccio; for a larger group, cheese with honeycomb and pumpkin marmalade, or a meze with olive tapenade, artichoke and truffle. Among the hot dishes, the bar serves grilled duck with nectarine and smoked pearl barley, halibut with Asian sauce and zucchini spaghetti, and picanha steak.
