FOMIN BAR&SHOP

«FOMIN BAR&SHOP» is one of Kazan's first craft beer bars, having moved from Pushkin Street to the busier Profsoyuznaya Street. The venue occupies 80 square meters in the former Bread Bazaar building, dating from the 19th to early 20th century. Its neighbors include Belgian Beers Bar, Mellow Wine & Beer, «Granum», the bar-club «Sol», and the shot bar «Volna». Dmitry and Alisa Fomin turned the industrial space, with its vaulted ceilings and brick walls, into a Scandinavian-style venue. White walls and ceiling are set off by green RegenBogen lamps, a color echoed in the tap handles, shelves, and chair upholstery. The 18 taps pour beer from «Bakunina», AF Brewery, Founders, Zagovor, St. Anton cider from «Yablochnyy Spas», Weiss wheat beer from Schneider, and pilsner from Plan B. The bottle list includes Chrysopolis from the Italian brewery Del Ducato, Sur Galaxy, a Black Sour IPA style beer from the Danish brewery ToO, a passion fruit beer from Sweden's Sahtipaja, and a pepper imperial stout from Plan B aged on wood chips soaked in Yaroslavl moonshine. Snacks include house-made pâté with toast, local cheeses, kazylyk, and South African biltong jerky. The bar's kitchen is planned to be given over to gastronomic pop-up projects run by other enthusiasts.
