About

Spyashchaya Sobaka

«Spyashchaya Sobaka» is a beer bar in the Chekist Town complex at Pervomayskaya, 40, near the Dinamo and Ploshchad 1905 Goda metro stations. The place was opened by Denis Tarasov, a well-known Yekaterinburg photographer and co-founder of the Mart photography center. You can also arrange a tour of the basements of this legendary constructivist complex here — the history of the place matters just as much as what's poured into the glasses. The bar's interior follows the minimalist spirit of Russian avant-garde — no unnecessary decoration, just the essentials. Six kinds of beer are on tap, plus around fifty more bottled varieties in the fridges, mostly from Russian producers. The snacks are simple, no frills: pistachios, salted pretzels, calamari straight from the packet — nothing more is needed with beer. People come here not for the food but for the conversation. The next table over might have a digger with stories about underground Yekaterinburg, or a photographer ready to talk about art until closing time. «Spyashchaya Sobaka» is a place for those who appreciate beer without frills and company without pretension.
