Yesenin

«Yesenin» is a Russian wine bar at 2 Gorokhovaya Street, named after Sergei Yesenin and steeped in the spirit of his character: creative, romantic, rebellious. The bar was opened by the team behind the restaurant «Petrov-Vodkin» on Admiralteysky Prospekt, 6, as their first project devoted to wine, culture and a bit of mischief. The brick vaults of the rooms recall an old wine cellar, the light fixtures are decorated with melted bottles, and the bar counter is built from wooden wine crates bearing the names of brands featured on the wine list. The wine list includes more than 140 labels. For those who want to make sense of the variety, the bar has put together more than ten tasting sets, each one a journey through the southern winemaking regions of Russia celebrated by poets. Sommelier-waiters help guests navigate the list. The kitchen works as an eno-gastronomic accompaniment to the wine: the menu includes dishes like herring with sweet grain mustard on bread, and baked pepper with feta cheese mousse. From Thursday to Sunday, «Yesenin» hosts poetry and music evenings, as well as tastings led by well-known Russian winemakers. The bar is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 4:00 pm to 1:00 am.
