Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Dekabristov Street, 41 preserves recipes from the Soviet confectionery trade and still makes its desserts by them. "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, almond cookies — all of it is made from natural ingredients: fresh chocolate, butter, real cream. Boiled condensed milk for the desserts is ordered from Mordovia, and every batch of ingredients undergoes quality control. The story of the establishment began with a bakery-confectionery on Nevsky Prospekt, 44 — it was first mentioned in the "Ves Peterburg" yearbook of 1903. Lines for fresh baked goods stretched along Nevsky Prospekt from the entrance. The production survived two world wars and a revolution, and in the Soviet years the confectioners developed recipes that became classics for several generations of Petersburgers — many remember the "Leningradsky" and "Teatralny" cakes from childhood. «Sever-Metropol» is easy to reach from the "Sennaya Ploshchad", "Spasskaya" and "Sadovaya" metro stations. The kitchen's cuisine is original, but respectful of the traditions of Saint Petersburg's oldest confectionery production.
