About

Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Torez Avenue is a patisserie with a history rooted in pre-revolutionary Petersburg. The first mention of the establishment appears in the 1903 yearbook "Ves Peterburg" ("All of Petersburg"), when a bakery-patisserie opened at 44 Nevsky Prospekt. Back then, people lined up right on the avenue for fresh pastries, and ever since, the confectioners have carefully preserved recipes that survived two world wars and a revolution. Here they make desserts familiar to several generations of Petersburgers: "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko," "Leningradsky," and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies. During the Soviet years, the confectioners developed their own recipes, which became classics and are still used unchanged today. Only natural products are used in preparation — fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream — and boiled condensed milk is ordered from Mordovia, with strict quality control for every batch. The establishment is located near the "Ploshchad Muzhestva" metro station and combines mixed cuisine with confectionery production. In 2007, its own production facility was set up here, continuing the traditions of the oldest patisserie in Petersburg, founded more than a century ago on Nevsky Prospekt.
