Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Prospekt Veteranov is part of the history of St. Petersburg's confectionery trade, which began back in 1903 with a bakery at 44 Nevsky Prospekt. The establishment was first mentioned that year in the "Ves Peterburg" ("All of Petersburg") yearbook, and fresh pastries drew queues right on the avenue. The production survived two world wars and a revolution, but kept the recipes loved by generation after generation of Petersburgers. Here they make "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko," "Leningradsky," and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies — the very desserts of a Soviet childhood. The recipes haven't changed in decades: only natural ingredients go into them — real chocolate, butter, fresh cream. Boiled condensed milk for the cakes and pastries is ordered separately from Mordovia, with strict quality control of every batch. The establishment is located near the "Prospekt Veteranov" metro station, at 158 Prospekt Veteranov. The cuisine here is mixed, but confectionery remains the main focus — with a full range of classic Soviet desserts made according to original pre-war and Soviet recipes.
