Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Lenina Avenue, 16, is a bakery-café with a history that began back in 1903 with a bakery at Nevsky Prospekt 44. Back then, lines for fresh baked goods stretched all along the avenue, and the production survived the revolution and two world wars, remaining in the memory of many generations of Petersburgers. Here, desserts are made according to Soviet recipes developed by confectioners back in the last century. The menu includes the "Kartoshka" pastry, "Bird's Milk" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Buchet" buns, almond cookies, and the "Leningradskoye" pastry. All these treats are made from natural products: real chocolate, butter, and natural cream. Boiled condensed milk for the desserts is ordered separately from Mordovia — the quality of ingredients here is strictly checked. The cuisine at «Sever-Metropol» is mixed, but the emphasis is specifically on the confectionery traditions of old Petersburg. The recipes for the cakes and pastries have remained unchanged for decades — it's the very taste that many remember from childhood.
