Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Lesnoy Prospekt, 61 in St. Petersburg preserves the recipes of the city's oldest confectionery. The story began with a bakery at Nevsky Prospekt, 44, first mentioned in the "Ves Peterburg" yearbook in 1903. Back then, lines for fresh pastries stretched along the whole of Nevsky Prospekt. The production survived two world wars and a revolution without losing its connection to the people of St. Petersburg. During the Soviet years, the confectioners developed recipes that became classics for decades to come. Here they make "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko," "Leningradsky," and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bushe" buns, and almond cookies — the very flavors from childhood for many generations of city residents. The recipes haven't changed: real chocolate, butter, and real cream go into every product. Boiled condensed milk is ordered separately from Mordovia — the quality of this ingredient matters here as a matter of principle. The kitchen's offerings are mixed, but the focus remains on confectionery with a rich history. In 2007, the production expanded with a new site, continuing the tradition established back at the beginning of the 20th century on Nevsky Prospekt.
