Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Petergofskoye Shosse, 3 is part of the confectionery history of St. Petersburg, which began back in 1903 with a bakery at 44 Nevsky Prospekt. Back then, lines for fresh pastries stretched right out onto the avenue, and the production survived two world wars and a revolution, remaining in the memory of several generations of St. Petersburg residents. Today the same desserts that won over the city for decades are made here: "Kartoshka" pastries, "Bird's Milk" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Buche" buns, almond cookies, and "Leningradskoye" pastries. The recipes haven't changed since Soviet times — they use natural chocolate, butter, and fresh cream. Boiled condensed milk for the fillings is ordered separately from Mordovia, with the quality of each batch carefully checked. The establishment's cuisine is mixed, but the emphasis is specifically on confectionery — what people come here for, the taste of childhood. In 2007 the production was expanded with a new workshop, which made it possible to maintain the scale of baking without losing quality or fidelity to the old recipes.
