Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» in Kudrovo, at 3 Leningradskaya Street, carries on the work of one of St. Petersburg's oldest confectionery businesses. Its history began with a bakery-confectionery shop at 44 Nevsky Prospekt, mentioned as far back as the 1903 "Ves Peterburg" directory. Back then, people lined up along the avenue for fresh baked goods, and the business survived two world wars and a revolution, remaining part of the city's memory. Here they make classic Soviet-era confections using recipes from past decades: "Kartoshka" and "Leningradskoye" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies. They use natural ingredients — real chocolate, butter, and natural cream. The boiled condensed milk for desserts is sourced from Mordovia, and all products go through strict quality control. The menu is mixed, with confectionery remaining its main focus. The recipes for the "Leningradsky" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies were developed by Soviet-era confectioners, and their taste is remembered by several generations of St. Petersburg residents.
