Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Kosygin Prospekt carries on the tradition of one of St. Petersburg's oldest confectionery businesses. The establishment's history began with a bakery-confectionery at 44 Nevsky Prospekt — it's mentioned as far back as the 1903 "Ves Peterburg" directory. Even then, queues for fresh pastries stretched along the entire avenue. The business survived the revolution and two world wars, and in the Soviet years its confectioners created recipes that became true classics for decades to come. Today «Sever-Metropol» makes the same desserts that won over Petersburgers many years ago: "Kartoshka" and "Leningradskoye" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" cake, the famous "Teatralny" cake, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies. The recipes and approach to ingredients remain unchanged — only natural products are used: fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream. Boiled condensed milk for the fillings is ordered from Mordovia — the quality of this ingredient is considered essential here. The kitchen's menu is mixed, but the main focus is on confectionery — the reason guests of different generations come here. Every dessert is made according to historical recipes, preserving a taste many Petersburgers have known since childhood.
