«Sever-Metropol» on Michurinskaya Street, 21/11, near Gorkovskaya metro station, is a patisserie with a history rooted in pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg. The first mentions of the establishment appear in the 1903 "Ves Peterburg" yearbook, when the bakery-patisserie at 44 Nevsky Prospekt drew crowds of city residents for fresh baked goods. The production survived two world wars and a revolution, and during the Soviet years recipes were developed here that became classics for several generations of St. Petersburg residents. Today the pastry chefs prepare desserts using the same recipes as decades ago: "Kartoshka" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, almond cookies, and "Leningradsky" cake. Only natural ingredients are used in the work — fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream. Boiled condensed milk for the desserts is ordered from suppliers in Mordovia, and product quality is strictly controlled at every stage. The establishment's menu is mixed, but the main emphasis is on pastries and confections, which are tied to warm childhood memories for many city residents. Every dessert here is not just baked goods, but a piece of St. Petersburg history that has preserved the taste of the old city.
