About

Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Varshavskaya Street, 96, near Moskovskaya metro station, is a confectionery producer with a history tracing back to a bakery at Nevsky Prospekt, 44, first mentioned in the 1903 edition of the "Ves Peterburg" directory. Back then, people would line up all along Nevsky Prospekt for fresh pastries and desserts, and the production went through two world wars and a revolution, remaining part of the memory of many generations of St. Petersburg residents. Here, confectionery is made according to Soviet recipes: "Kartoshka" and "Leningradskoye" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" and "Teatralny" cakes, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies. The recipes haven't changed in decades, and only natural products are used — fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream. Boiled condensed milk for the desserts is ordered separately from Mordovia, ensuring control over the quality of the main ingredient in these classic treats. The establishment's menu is mixed, but the focus is specifically on confectionery that has kept the taste familiar to St. Petersburg residents since childhood. The production facility, built in 2007, continues a tradition that began more than a century ago on Nevsky Prospekt.
