Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» on Admiral Konovalov Street preserves the recipes of St. Petersburg's oldest confectionery. The story of the establishment began with a bakery-confectionery at 44 Nevsky Prospekt — the first mention of it appears in the "Ves Peterburg" directory of 1903. Even then, queues for fresh pastries stretched from the shop along the entire length of Nevsky Prospekt. The production survived the revolution and two world wars, and in the Soviet years the confectioners here created recipes that became classics for decades to come. The "Bird's Milk," "Teatralny," and "Leningradsky" cakes, the "Kartoshka" pastry, "Bouchée" buns, and almond cookies are made here using the same methods as many years ago. Only natural products go into them: fresh chocolate, butter, natural cream, and boiled condensed milk, which is ordered from Mordovia. Every ingredient undergoes strict quality control, and the recipes have remained unchanged since Soviet times. For many residents of St. Petersburg, the taste of these desserts is tied to childhood memories — and today «Sever-Metropol» continues to make them according to the original recipes, staying true to tradition.
