Sever-Metropol

«Sever-Metropol» at 82 Maly Prospekt V.O. is the oldest confectionery business in St. Petersburg. Its history began with a bakery-confectionery shop on Nevsky Prospekt, 44, first mentioned in the "Ves Peterburg" yearbook of 1903. Even then, people lined up for fresh pastries — the establishment lived through two world wars and a revolution, yet kept its place in the memory of Petersburgers. Here, pastries are made according to recipes developed back in the Soviet years. "Kartoshka" and "Leningradskoye" pastries, "Ptichye Moloko" cake, "Teatralny" cake, "Bouchée" buns, almond cookies — flavors familiar to many generations since childhood are recreated today without any change to the technology. Only natural ingredients are used: fresh chocolate, natural cream, butter. Boiled condensed milk for the confectionery is ordered from Mordovia — this ingredient undergoes separate quality control. The establishment's cuisine is mixed, but its confectionery has remained its calling card for more than a hundred years.
