Mad Asian BBQ

«Mad Asian BBQ» is a pan-Asian restaurant in St. Petersburg at 32 Pionerskaya Street, near Krestovsky Ostrov, Chkalovskaya, and Sportivnaya metro stations. The kitchen is run by chef Roman Grachev, and the main principle here is fire. The open kitchen fills the dining room with the aroma of burning wood, and almost every dish is scorched with a torch before serving. The menu opens with a raw section — sashimi, tartares, bowls, and hand rolls. Next come the appetizers: fermented watermelon, smashed cucumbers, tempura shrimp. Kushiyaki of chicken, fish, meat, and seafood are cooked over an open flame. A particular point of pride for the kitchen is okonomiyaki with shrimp or mushrooms and truffle — a Japanese flatbread made from fried napa cabbage and wheat batter with sauces and toppings. The restaurant's signature dish is its Peking duck, which takes five days to prepare: the farm-raised bird is aged in a maturation chamber for three days, then marinated with spices and fermented ingredients. The bar menu is overseen by head bartender Anton Gusarov, who created a cocktail list dedicated to Japanese daruma dolls. The bar also offers Champagne and a sake collection. The interior is built on monumental materials — granite, wood, and cylindrical tile — while black walls create the look of a lacquered box. The average check at the restaurant is 3,000–6,000 rubles.
