Gypsies & Jews

«Gypsies & Jews» is located in the Central District of St. Petersburg, at 14 Lomonosova Street, close to Vladimirskaya and Dostoevskaya metro stations. Here, dim lighting coexists with rock music from the speakers, while a neon sign with the quote "Here the light that never goes out" illuminates the billiard table in the middle of the room. The place was opened by a team whose names are familiar to St. Petersburg's bar scene: Alexander Boltyan, who was among the founders of «Dom byta», «Bekitser», «Skotnyy dvor», and «Ryadom»; Boris Kiselyuk from «Bekitser» and Terminal; and Ivan Tkachenko, also involved with «Bekitser». Together they put together a space in the American spirit — without excessive theatrics, but with the signature irony of old-school bartenders. The kitchen in the bar consists of snacks, and the average check does not exceed 1000 rubles. Particular attention is paid here to strong spirits: croutons are served alongside them — simple ones with pâté, and more festive ones with black caviar and gold leaf. There is no separate cocktail menu at «Gypsies & Jews», but you can catch a "Blue Lagoon" on tap — a drink that has long gone out of fashion in other bars, but here sells out instantly. The atmosphere is conducive to idle chatter and endless arguments with the bartender about the meaning of existence.
