About

Beloturka

«Beloturka» is located at the intersection of the pedestrian streets Leningradskaya and Kuibysheva, right in the heart of Samara. It's an artisan bakery and confectionery where bread and pastries are made on site. The counters offer fresh artisan bread, confections, and various baked goods, while the menu includes breakfasts, toasts, and coffee to go. Worth special attention is the "Neklyutinka" bun — a local specialty that every guest should try. The bakery's name is no accident. "Beloturka" is a wheat variety that once brought enormous fortunes to Samara merchants and turned the provincial town into a major industrial and cultural center. The wheat was exported to 17 countries, and cookies made from Samara's "beloturka" wheat were even served for breakfast to England's Queen Victoria. The place was opened by restaurateur Evgeny Reimer, a fourth-generation Samara native, and Andrey Merzlyakov from Kaliningrad, a specialist in baking technology. The bakery's interior features a central mural telling the story of Samara's bread trade. It depicts the merchants Anton Shikhobalov, Pyotr Subbotin, and Konstantin Neklyutin, the building of the Samara Grain Exchange (which before the revolution ranked third in the world by trading volume), the city's first steam mill, barge haulers with a wheat barge, and camels. The average check at «Beloturka» is 400 rubles, and the bakery can be found at 99 Kuibysheva Street.
