About

Fray

«Fray» at 161 Permskaya Street is a small European café focused on sandwiches. Inside there's a lot of wood, a turquoise wall, and a menu written on chalkboards — the atmosphere suits people stopping in for coffee more than large groups. Seating is limited: three separate tables and three bar counters, though there's a hallway where you can leave a bicycle before coming in. Coffee is taken seriously here — there's a large selection of beans you can buy to take home. Pastries are few but fresh and homemade, and the sandwiches and toasts are what make it worth stopping by for lunch. As for drinks, there's a rich tea selection, including Ivan tea and Taiwanese lychee oolong, several types of lemonade (the lavender one gets particular praise), and in the cold season, mulled wine and glögg. Every table has carafes of free drinking water — a simple detail, but still rare in Perm. The average check at «Fray» is 1,000 to 3,000 rubles.
