Secret Place

«Secret Place» is tucked away in Kaloshin Lane, between Kropotkinskaya, Arbatskaya and Smolenskaya, and has been there for more than 20 years. In recent years the restaurant has belonged to a family of filmmakers, who oversee the kitchen and service themselves — they bring their own friends here, and now guests are welcomed on the same terms. Chef Maxim Kostyaev worked his way from «Balchug» under Roland Holzer and a chef position at «De Marco» to running his own kitchen, where European, Italian and Russian traditions come together. The menu includes octopus carpaccio, tom yum with shrimp and squid, seafood spaghetti, a Chateaubriand steak cut from marbled tenderloin, Chateaubriand tartare with garlic croutons, and filet mignon with spinach and mushrooms. In summer the kitchen switches to a seasonal menu, focused on lighter dishes and wine by an open window. On weekdays from 12:00 to 16:00 there is a lunch offer: the same portions and quality as the main menu, but at a discount and with the option of putting together your own set of dishes and drinks.
