«Nikolay» on Staraya Basmannaya is a bar and buffet serving Russian cuisine, where the star of the menu is the pie. The dough is baked in whole kilogram-sized pieces, and the choice of fillings is impressive: meat, duck and apple, trout and spinach, lamb and vegetables, and a proper kurnik (chicken pie). There are simpler and cheaper options too — cabbage and egg, carrot and egg, green onion and egg. For those who prefer more refined combinations, there are pies with turkey and prunes, spinach and feta cheese, potato and mushrooms, chicken and tomatoes, vegetables and brynza cheese. A separate item is the trout pie, the most expensive in the lineup. Pies can be ordered not only at the venue itself but also delivered to your home. A call center operates from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., taking orders by phone. There are two options: order a pie in advance, by midnight of the previous day, for the required number of guests, or order it the same day — in which case some items may be unavailable, and an alternative will be offered instead. Delivery within the MKAD is free with an order of seven or more pies, including one complimentary pie. Payment can be made in cash to the courier, via a bank's mobile app, or by bank transfer using payment details. The establishment is named after Nikolai Andreyevich Peregudov, born in Moscow on January 31, 1930 — this story is the basis for the bar-buffet's name.
