Arkhangelskoe

The «Arkhangelskoe» restaurant operates on the grounds of the health resort of the same name in the village of Voskresenskoye. The place is tied to the history of an old estate known since the early 17th century. Back then the village was called Skobeyevo, and it received its current name after the stone Church of Michael the Archangel was built in 1668. The estate was owned by the salt merchants the Yuryevs, then by the Skvortsov family, and later by the Iroshnikov family and Fyodor Vasilyev, who rebuilt the manor in the early 20th century. After the revolution the estate was nationalized, and in 1922 a VTsIK rest house was opened there, visited by Kalinin, Molotov, Kuibyshev, Krupskaya, and Clara Zetkin. Today the complex spans 135 hectares of coniferous and mixed forest in New Moscow, at the confluence of the Sosenka and Desna rivers, 10 kilometers from the MKAD along Kaluga Highway.
